I stayed at Grand Hyatt Jakarta for four nights in February 2025 for a work trip. It was my first stay here, and was lucky enough to have been gifted a Guest of Honor certificate by a friend. Hyatt’s Guest of Honor allowed us to enjoy Globalist benefits for the entirety of our stay, while the gifter received one night for Hyatt’s status accrual.

I was able to have the Guest of Honor certificate added to my booking through emailing the hotel directly, which is the only option to do so if you already have a confirmed booking.

The room

At check-in, no room upgrade was offered at all, so I got assigned to a King Bed with City View room as per my booking. I did ask if there was an upgrade available: the check-in receptionist said the hotel was full, and was told to check back in the coming days for a possible suite upgrade.

Although we were told to check back for a possible upgrade, nothing came through however, though the hotel was nice enough to extend a late checkout until 5pm as an exception. I’ve a friend who also had the Guest of Honor certificate with Explorist status and got a suite upgrade instead! I guess you would have a better chance with even just Explorist status.

The room itself measures 50 sqm, which can already be considered a junior suite in some hotels, definitely a huge space for work or leisure. The view itself was nothing special, city view room overlooks the Plaza Indonesia office building across the hotel. The Bundaran view rooms will get you, well… the Bundaran views, which is essentially a landmark roundabout!

One gripe is that the TV was very weirdly placed beside the bed, and the sofa was adjacent to the TV. I ended up not using the TV at all.

There was even a walk-in closet near the entrance, which was spacious enough for luggages and clothes. The bathroom also came with a bathtub, in addition to a toilet and a shower, which came with Balmain amenities.

The room was indeed very spacious. I also had the chance to check out the Grand Suite, which is the entry-level suite at Grand Hyatt Jakarta and measures 75 sqm. It features a small pantry near the entrance, a dining area combined with a living room, and a separate bedroom and bathroom.

The lounge

As part of the Guest of Honor benefits, I had access to the Club Lounge, which serves evening canapés and drinks from 5.30pm to 7.30pm daily, and also functions as an alternative breakfast venue in the morning. I generally don’t prefer having breakfast in the lounge, so I’ll just focus on the evening spread for this review.

The lounge itself is located on the 22nd floor. There were all-day drinks, though in the evenings, staff were attentive and quick to offer drinks once seated.

The evening selection was consistent across the four nights. There was usually a small rotation of hot dishes, such as stir-fried vegetables, grilled chicken skewers, pasta, and a soup option. Cold items included assorted sushi, salads, cold cuts, and cheese. Dessert consisted of a couple of cakes or mousse cups in small portions. There was also a live station where you could request made-to-order noodles.

The food itself is decent enough for a full meal. If you’re hungry, you can always walk over to the malls around the area, or if you’re adventurous enough, there’s actually a stretch of streetside stalls beside Plaza Indonesia. If not, there’s always Grab to order food in.

The lounge itself was very spacious, with lots of seats available in different forms, from tables to booths and to lounging seats at the end of the lounge. I recalled seeing a smoking lounge as well, at the far end of the lounge. Good place to relax and enjoy the city views, or to catch up on some work.

Breakfast

Breakfast was included at the Grand Café on the first floor, and had far more selections than the Club Lounge. I generally prefer having my breakfasts at the restaurant instead, simply because there were lots of options so you’ll never get sick of eating the same thing over and over again. There was also a live egg station where you could request for made-to-order eggs.

Final thoughts

Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Grand Hyatt Jakarta. The location couldn’t be more convenient, directly connected to Plaza Indonesia with plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Service was consistently warm and professional, and while I didn’t get an upgrade this time, the late checkout was a nice gesture since I had an evening flight.

The Club Lounge was a highlight, with a good evening spread and attentive staff who made the space feel relaxed and inviting. Combined with the large, spacious rooms and solid breakfast at Grand Café, the hotel remains a good choice in central Jakarta for both work and leisure.
