Review: Qatar Airways Premium Lounge Singapore (SIN)

The Qatar Airways Premium Lounge in Singapore is arguably one of my favourite business class lounges right here in Singapore. I’ve been here a few times over the past few years, and I dare say this is a few notches above the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge, which says a lot given this is in Singapore Airline’s homebase.

Location and access

The lounge is located above on Level 3, just above Transfer C within Terminal 1. As Terminal 1 only has one immigration checkpoint right at the central piazza, if you’re coming from immigration, you just need to turn left when you see Louis Vuitton, and head towards the end of the terminal towards the C gates. Look for the escalator that brings you up. It’s just right beside the Emirates Lounge and Plaza Premium Lounge.

You can access the lounge if you are flying oneworld Business or First Class out of Singapore, except Business Lite fares on Qatar Airways, where you can opt for lounge access with a fee. If you’re already flying First Class, you probably should check out the Qantas First Lounge instead.

Unlike most oneworld lounges, Qatar Airways have somehow negotiated an exception to the standard oneworld lounge access policy. This lounge does not grant entry based on frequent flyer status alone. That means oneworld Sapphire or Emerald members flying Business Class cannot bring guests flying Economy, and Economy Class travelers (even with oneworld status) aren’t allowed in here too. In that case, several other oneworld lounges in Singapore are available.

The lounge has several distinct sections. When you enter, you’ll find the reception, with an attached luggage storage area staffed and ready to help with your bags. Past that is a quiet zone where I was informed you cannot bring food from the dining area. This area has productivity pods and comfy sofas, perfect if you want to catch up on some work before your flight. There’s also a minibar where you can find Acqua Panna still water, and San Pellegrino sparkling water.

Next up is the main dining and bar area. This is where most passengers hang out to eat and drink. There’s also a manned bar where you can find some nice cocktails or mocktails handmade by the bartender. Beside the manned bar is a small buffet section, but frankly, you’ll have better food by ordering from the made-to-order menu. There are also plenty of tables and seating in this entire section to accommodate different group sizes.

Beyond the dining area is a rest space where you can request a blanket if you want to catch some sleep. At the far end are the showers, offering a refreshing way to freshen up before boarding.

Food and drinks

In my opinion, this is one of the best oneworld lounges at Changi, second only to the Qantas First Lounge. The food is made to order and served right to your table. To me, this level of service is usually only seen in First Class lounges.

The menu changes regularly, but most items stay more or less the same from month to month. I know that in October, they even feature a special menu to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You can always check the latest menu online here.

I started with the chicken satay as an appetizer, followed by the grilled beef tenderloin paired with a glass of Taittinger Prestige Rosé. Although I heard there might be limits on the number of main courses you can order, it’s been a while since I’ve been here so I can’t confirm.

Over my visits, I’ve tried a few different dishes, including pad thai with chicken skewers, beef on brioche, and ice cream with berries.

There’s also a small buffet with salads, cheeses, crackers, and desserts for when you want a quick bite. When I was there in October 2024, they had some pink-themed items like macarons for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Amenities

Showers are available at the far end of the lounge. They come stocked with shower gel from Diptyque, the same brand used onboard Qatar Airways, and quality toiletries including toothbrush kits. I quite like the toothbrush, as it’s not the cheap ones you sometimes find in other lounges. The showers also feature both rainforest and handheld shower heads with good water pressure.

There is a dedicated prayer room with ablution facilities for Muslim travelers, accommodating passengers’ spiritual needs respectfully and conveniently.

I didn’t take any photos of the amenities, but maybe next time.

Concluding thoughts

The Qatar Airways Premium Lounge in Singapore is a standout among business class lounges at Singapore Changi Airport. The made-to-order food service is a treat, offering a level of attention usually reserved for First Class lounges. Frankly, I would spend most of my time here if I am flying on oneworld Business Class!
