We had previously visited the Alaska Lounge in 2022 when it was still located in Terminal 2 of San Francisco International Airport. In July 2024, the lounge relocated to the newly renovated Harvey Milk Terminal 1. This is not a refurbishment of the old lounge, but an entirely new location within Terminal 1. Naturally, we were curious to see how the move changed the experience. The new lounge was unveiled in July 2024 and designed by William Duff Architects, bringing a noticeably more contempo...

Once a flagship space, Cathay Pacific’s San Francisco lounge now feels dated, yet still offers a quietly comfortable pre-flight stop. We visited the lounge in early January 2026 before our flight back to Singapore, curious to see how it compares with Cathay’s refreshed lounges in Asia. Location and access

After visiting Capital One Landing, we made our way to the American Airlines Admirals Club at Concourse E. This was part of a December day trip to the nation's capital, as we were heading back to New York later that evening. This particular Admirals Club is one of the recently renovated ones, as part of a series of refurbishments by American Airlines that will continue throughout 2026. That alone sets expectations a little higher than the older Admirals Club across the network.

We flew Cathay Pacific economy class from Singapore to New York via Hong Kong (as part of our trip to the United States), after failing to find any redemption availability for late December 2025. It was obviously not an ideal cabin for such a long journey, but given the timing and peak holiday travel, this was simply what was available and at a reasonable price.
- [Review: British Airways Lounge (SIN)](https://quietvacationer.com/2026/01/24/review-british-airways-lounge-sin.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2026/01/24/review-british-airways-lounge-sin/)) (2026-01-24)
We visited the British Airways Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1 as part of our trip to the United States. This was not our first time here, but it was our first visit since the lounge’s 2025 refresh. The lounge has long been a steady option at Changi, though it has often played second fiddle to some of the stronger competitors in the same terminal. I was curious to see whether the refurbishment had changed that.
- [Review: Cathay Pacific Lounge (SIN)](https://quietvacationer.com/2026/01/22/review-cathay-pacific-lounge-sin.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2026/01/22/review-cathay-pacific-lounge-sin/)) (2026-01-22)
Given that we flew Cathay Pacific on our way to the United States late December 2025, we naturally checked out the Cathay Pacific Lounge in Singapore at Terminal 4 before our flight. This was done after our oneworld lounge safari experience at Terminal 1. While Terminal 4 is physically separated from the other terminals, it is home to one of the most aesthetically pleasing lounges in the entire airport.
- [Review: Qantas Business Lounge (SIN)](https://quietvacationer.com/2026/01/20/review-qantas-business-lounge-sin.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2026/01/20/review-qantas-business-lounge-sin/)) (2026-01-20)
We visited the Qantas Business Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1 on a December 2025 evening, ahead of an overnight departure as part of our trip to the United States. This is a lounge I’ve returned to multiple times over the years, and it has stayed consistently solid at Singapore Changi Airport. The food is good, the bar is properly run, and there’s enough seating and space that it rarely feels very crowded, even at busier times when there are multiple Qantas flights.
- [Review: Cathay Pacific Lounge (PVG)](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/12/24/review-cathay-pacific-lounge-pvg.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/12/24/review-cathay-pacific-lounge-pvg/)) (2025-12-24)
We visited the Cathay Pacific Lounge at Shanghai Pudong International Airport a few times over the past couple of years, plus once back in the pre-Covid days. Shanghai Pudong International Airport isn’t exactly overflowing with good airline lounges (probably aside from Juneyao’s), so this one tends to stand out, especially when the alternative is usually something a bit… uninspiring.
- [Review: Finnair Business Lounge (HEL)](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/12/14/review-finnair-business-lounge-hel.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/12/14/review-finnair-business-lounge-hel/)) (2025-12-14)
We visited the Finnair Business Lounge in the non-Schengen area of Helsinki Airport in October 2025 before a late-evening departure, as part of our return journey back to Singapore. Location and access
- [Review: Cathay Pacific The Pier Business Class Lounge (HKG)](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/12/03/review-cathay-pacific-the-pier-business-class-lounge-hkg.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/12/03/review-cathay-pacific-the-pier-business-class-lounge-hkg/)) (2025-12-03)
We visited The Pier as part of our Chasing the Northern Lights trip, and this ended up being one of the more memorable stops at Hong Kong International Airport. Cathay Pacific operates several lounges across Terminal 1, but The Pier is their flagship lounge. Since we had a five-hour layover, we decided to drop by after a visit to the Qantas Lounge. Location and access
- [Review: Qantas Lounge Hong Kong (HKG)](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/12/01/review-qantas-lounge-hong-kong-hkg.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/12/01/review-qantas-lounge-hong-kong-hkg/)) (2025-12-01)
We visited the Qantas Lounge Hong Kong several times over the years, and it remains an impressive lounge at Hong Kong International Airport. It’s stylish, comfortable, and usually much quieter than Cathay Pacific’s own lounges, which makes it a good alternative. Photos here are from different visits, including our recent one in October 2025, so the menus may vary slightly. Location and access
- [Review: Finnair A350-900 Business Class (HKG-HEL)](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/11/27/review-finnair-a350-900-business-class-hkg-hel.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/11/27/review-finnair-a350-900-business-class-hkg-hel/)) (2025-11-27)
As part of our Chasing the Northern Lights trip to Iceland and Norway, we flew Finnair flight AY100 from Hong Kong to Helsinki. This was the second segment on our award booking via Asia Miles. Check-in, transit and boarding
- [Review: Cathay Pacific A330-300 Business Class (SIN-HKG)](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/11/26/review-cathay-pacific-a330-300-business-class-sin-hkg.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/11/26/review-cathay-pacific-a330-300-business-class-sin-hkg/)) (2025-11-26)
As part of our trip to Iceland, we flew Cathay Pacific’s A330-300 Business Class on CX652 from Singapore to Hong Kong. This was an award flight booked via Cathay Pacific. Check-in and boarding
- [Review: Qatar Airways Premium Lounge Singapore (SIN)](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/01/11/review-qatar-airways-premium-lounge-singapore-sin.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/01/11/review-qatar-airways-premium-lounge-singapore-sin/)) (2025-01-11)
The Qatar Airways Premium Lounge in Singapore is arguably one of my favourite business class lounges right here in Singapore. I've been here a few times over the past few years, and I dare say this is a few notches above the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge, which says a lot given this is in Singapore Airline's homebase. Location and access
- [Review: Malaysia Airlines A330-300 Business Class (KUL-SYD)](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/01/05/review-malaysia-airlines-a330-300-business-class-kul-syd.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/01/05/review-malaysia-airlines-a330-300-business-class-kul-syd/)) (2025-01-05)
I flew Malaysia Airlines MH123 on the redeye flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney in April 2024. The business class ticket was booked using Cathay Pacific Asia Miles as part of my journey from Singapore to Sydney via Kuala Lumpur. Check-in, transit and boarding
- [Review: Qantas First Lounge Singapore (SIN)](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/01/01/review-qantas-first-lounge-singapore-sin.md) ([web](https://quietvacationer.com/2025/01/01/review-qantas-first-lounge-singapore-sin/)) (2025-01-01)
I really enjoyed my time at the Qantas First Lounge in Singapore. Since it was my first time at any First Class lounge, I don’t have much to compare it to. When you’re flying First Class, I suppose there’s a certain level of comfort and service you expect, and the lounge experience here didn’t disappoint at all. Location and access
